Yes, You Can Afford Solar Today

Government and utility incentive programs can drive down the cost of your Michigan solar installation by up to 50%. Learn about federal and utility incentives that can help you lower the cost of switching to home solar power.

Residential Energy Efficient Property Credit

The federal rebate is 30% off your installation price. Simply fill out a one page form as part of your federal tax return, and you’ll get your money as a tax rebate. If you do not expect to owe taxes this year, you can roll over your credit to the following year since the credit is available through 2016.

Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs)

As a homeowner, you can generate SRECs and sell them to utility companies, which need them to meet state Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) solar energy requirements. In Michigan, several utility companies buy SRECs directly from their customers with solar systems. If you are not currently a participant in one these Michigan pilot programs, Astrum Solar may be able to sell your SRECs for you.

Michigan SRECs do have value outside the state and currently can be used to satisfy Ohio RPS requirements. One credit is issued for each 1,000 kilowatt hours your solar panels generate and SRECs are an entirely separate benefit from your electricity savings. As one of the country’s top residential SREC aggregators, Astrum Solar can offer our installation customers value for the SRECs you will generate with your solar system.
