When the Gottuks called Astrum Solar, they were not planning to solar power their home. They were only looking for a way to heat their pool.

“When Astrum Solar came to our home, they ran the numbers and we saw that going solar could be a great way to hedge our future against inflation, especially with energy prices increasing. It looked like common sense”, said Ruth. “My husband is very thorough in his research. We’re both engineers and we got totally into the details and analyzed the trade-offs on cost versus power generated.”

Everything was explained very well. There was nothing I needed to do. It was almost too easy! And their work crew were the nicest, most polite crew I've ever had come through the house.

The availability of generous government incentives was also a big factor: “We have three daughters. That’s three weddings, and one is off to college next year. We needed to jump now, and take advantage of the government’s help.”

The Gottuks chose Astrum Solar after speaking with numerous solar companies. “We determined that Astrum provided the best equipment and warranties for the price. For example, Astrum’s standard use of microinverters was a definite plus that has helped the efficiency of our system, particularly with the snow this winter. Also, we spoke with previous customers and they had nothing but great words about Astrum. I am glad to say that we can echo that as well,” said Dan.

“They had a better service agreement – moving your panels if you change your roof or if you move. There were a lot of things that made us more comfortable with making the investment. Just in case something occurred, there’s a cushion,” added Ruth.

“We had a great experience with Astrum Solar. They wanted to make sure we were happy. Everything was explained very well. There was nothing I needed to do. It was almost too easy! And their work crew were the nicest, most polite crew I’ve ever had come through the house,” said Ruth.

Ruth’s one concern about getting solar panels was the aesthetics, because the panels had to be placed on the front of the house.  But this has turned out not to be a problem. According to Ruth, “People don’t even notice the panels on the house. We even put up Astrum Solar’s yard sign that has a big arrow pointing up, and says, LOOK UP! THIS HOUSE RUNS ON SOLAR and still some people don’t notice!”
